How do I water Phaleanopsis orchid?
Phalaenopsis are usually planted in a bark or sphagnum medium. Sphagnum moss will retain moisture longer than bark. Water when the sphagnum starts to dry. You can use your finger or a pencil to check how moist or dry the medium is. Probe the pencil tip carefully about an inch down. If the pencil wood is damp don't water, but check again the next day. You can check the moisture in sphagnum moss with your finger; if damp don't water yet--wait until the sphagnum moss starts to dry. When watering use room-temperature water, then water thoroughly over a sink to let the water drain out.
