Answer

Ficus microcarpa or common names:

Cuban Laurel, Indian Laurel Fig, Green Island Fig, Chinese Banyan is here at NYBG in the conservatory house 4 (see map below). There are two banyans in the same area for your convenience. (the train show is going on now until the 18 of Jan 2016 btw in that same area).

Ficus microcarpa can grow to 40 ft high and may be invasivie in its native habitat; hardy to zones 9b-11Parts of plant are poisonous if ingested, handling the plant may cause skin irritation or allergic reaction to some people. An evergreen grown for foliage (Shiny/Glossy-textured). 

In the Moraceae family of plants. Various synonyms, Ficus nitida, f. retusa, Urostigma microcarpum, Ficus thynneana, f. amblyphylla
