Vanda and Cattleya have quite high light requirements (2,000-3,000 foot-candles). Medium-light orchids such as Miltonia and Oncidium need 1,500-2,000 foot-candles. Low-light orchids such as Phalaenopsis and Paphiopedilum grow well at around 1,000 foot-candles. Light intensity can be measured with a light meter.
