Can you suggest a small evergreen conifer for a container in the shade?
Most conifers need good sun and light to grow well. However, you could try Russian arborvitae (Microbiota decussata) or Japanese plum yew (Cephalotaxus harringtonia). Other possibilities are dwarf hemock (Tsuga spp.), or fastigiate Irish yew (Taxus baccata 'Fasigiata').
Rather than planting a conifer, it may be preferable to choose a small broad-leafed evergreen such as cherry-laurel (Prunus laurocerasus), Japanese skimmia (Skimmia japonica), sweet box (Sarcococca hookeriana), Meserve holly (Ilex x meserveae) or even boxwood (Buxus sempervirens).
