Why is my small flowering tree, which flowered last year when new, not flowering this year?

It is possible that the flower buds were damaged by a late frost, or that a warm fall prevented the tree from going dormant and the buds died during the winter. Most like though, the tree was forced to flower in the nursery and will flower again in a year or two when it is fully acclimatized.
