Can orchids be grown under artificial light?

Answer

Yes, but a minimal effective light system of four 48-in. fluorescent bulbs is needed. Two of these bulbs should be warm light tubes and two should be cool light tubes. Allow 4-6 in. between the top of the plants and the fluorescent light tubes. Alternatively, full-spectrum fluorescent bulbs or full spectrum LED horticultural lighting, can also be used.
