The answer is yes! First, there is a Sequoiadendron giganteum, or giant redwood, right by the entrance to the Children's Garden. It's a very nice specimen, but don’t expect to see a tree hundreds of feet tall. This one is a baby at about 15-20 feet, and it grows very slowly.

Behind the Sequoiadendron, by the fence that surrounds the Children's Garden, there is a Metasequoia glyptostroboides, or dawn redwood. Don't confuse it with the bald-cypress (Taxodium distichum) just to the right of the dawn redwood. The redwood has opposite leaves and the bald-cypress has alternate leaves, but they look similar.

There is also a small grove of dawn redwoods (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) in the Benenson Ornamental Conifer (BOC) collection, on the far side of the garden near the Nolen Greenhouse. From the entrance of the BOC, follow the path a short way until it splits. Veer left and in several feet you will see the small grove on your right.

Both the dawn redwood and the bald-cypress are deciduous and have coppery bronze foliage in the fall. Both can grow to be very large trees with an extremely wide spread.
