Do you have books on growing produce in the shade?

preferably in apartments or containers

Answer

We have many books on vegetable growing in our library, but not specifically edible shade gardening. So you could look up specific plants and their culture. However, most edible plants need as least 6 hours of sun to grow well.

Vegetable plants (usually those grown for their leaves) can tolerate partial shade, but most need full, unobstructed sunlight for at least six hour a day. Morning sun is particularly helpful because it dries the dew from leaves and hinders certain diseases from forming.

If you have a narrow area that receives 6 hours of sun a day, vertical gardening is doable.
