Does Thain family forest have signs near many trees to identify them?

We are coming from Pittsburgh soon and hoping to have help in learning to identify trees in the forest. We have books, but actually seing the tree, a full grown one, with the name can be much better. We have Phipps and a new outdoors forest kind of place, but they have very few signs so far...

Answer

In general, we do not put display labels on plants in the Thain Family Forest. However, we do make special labels for plants that are part of the Forest’s citizen science phenology program so that volunteers observing them can find them easily. The labels are not in the usual display label format but they include the plants’ botanical name and common name and should be legible to most visitors.

Hope this helps!

P.S.: I love to hear that people value plant labels!
