Answer

Hello Joshua,

Thank you for your question. Pre-K is a wonderful time to introduce gardening and plant cycles to children! I have included some titles from our collection that I believe would be a great way to begin your students on this subject.

1.       From seed to plant / by Gail Gibbons

2.       Series from Anne Mottola

3.       Anywhere farm / Phyllis Root

4.       Up in the garden and down in the dirt / by Kate Messner

5.       Grow happy / by Jon Lasser, PhD, and Sage Foster-Lasser

6.       Who will plant a tree? / written by Jerry Pallotta

For new children’s book titles, you can follow our posts on the NYBG Plant Talk Blog. The library has put together a list of titles from our collections that will would be great for a K-12 audience. If you’re interested in a more hands on experience, consider the Children’s Gardening Program for ages 3-5.

I hope this was helpful! Enjoy your story time!
