Q. What potting medium is good for orchids?

Answer

A medium-size fir bark orchid mix is  preferable for most commonly grown orchid plants, especially epiphytic orchids such as Phalaenopsis (moth). Terrestrial orchids, such as Paphiopedilum or slipper orchid, prefer a finer bark mixture with peat, and like more moist conditions. Epiphytic orchids, on the other hand, like to dry out a bit, since their natural habitat is hanging out in the upper branches of trees.
