How do I control caterpillars?
Answer
There are many types of caterpillars. Some are pests, but some may become butterflies that are beneficial to your garden.
Hoverflies and robber flies feed on many insects, including leafhoppers and caterpillars.
Composite flowers (daisy and chamomile) and mints (spearmint, peppermint, or catnip) attract predatory wasps, hoverflies, and robber flies that help control many pests in the garden. An easy plant to grow from seed is yarrow (Achillea), another lure of beneficials.
