New houseplants have just come from the grower, where they were grown in ideal conditions by providing the proper amount of light, water, fertilizer and temperature. As a result, when you buy new houseplants, they are usually very full and lush. People then move them to a home or office where the conditions are not as favorable. Because our homes/offices tend to have less light, less humidity and varying temperatures, it is normal for the houseplants to lose some of their full lush leaves as they adjust to the conditions in their new home.

You can remove the yellowing leaves by gently pulling them off (if they will come off). Or you can wait until they fall off naturally. Your houseplant should stabilize within a few weeks.
