Is autumn clematis hardy in central NY?

Answer

Clematis terniflora, common name autumn clematis, is hardy to zone 5, covering most of central NY. While not native to North America, it has naturalized in many places and does well as a perennial plant.

Clematis flowers better if it gets more sun, so give it a sunny spot, but protect the root area with shade.

For zone information, consult this hardiness zone map.
