When do the ornamental cherry trees bloom at NYBG?

Answer

It really depends on the species of cherry, of which there are many. The diverse species of cherries at NYBG can bloom over an extended period (even starting in the fall for one variety).  Records from recent years list approximate dates for the ‘peak’ cherry bloom time. The dates below are approximate based on this data.  FYI, our trees up here in the Bronx tend to flower a little bit later than the same kind in Central Park.
