What do I need to know about toxic plants in the home?
Answer
Many outdoor and indoor houseplants are not toxic, but some can cause a toxic reaction from contact with skin or if ingested. Please see our LibGuide, Common Poisonous Houseplants, for a list of some frequently available plants that may cause adverse reaction. This is not an exhaustive list and you should research plants before you purchase through the websites of the poison control centers and ASPCA, listed below.
