I'm moving to San Francisco and plan to fly my plants out with me. Do you have any advice as to shipping them?

Answer

Bringing plants into California is restricted, for reasons having to do with California being one of the biggest agricultural states.

For detailed information, see the California Department of Food And Agriculture's factsheets, Frequently Asked Questions Concerning the Transport of Privately-Owned House Plants Into California From Other States, and Bringing Plants and Animals into California.

You can also call the department's Pest Exclusion Branch at (916) 654-0312 or send an email to peinfo@cdfa.ca.gov.

Toll-free, prerecorded CDFA agricultural quarantine information on animals and plants is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, and Tagalog at 1-800-675-2427.
