Clivias are native to South Africa and much of the available information on growing them comes from a southern hemisphere point of view, which can make spotting information that is helpful to a New York City grower difficult. When the roots of your plant are growing out of the drain hole, it is time to re-pot.   Repotting can be done just as the plant initiates new growth in spring for the quickest recovery from re-potting stress, but just after the plant finishes flowering is also successful.
