How can I care for my Beallara Tahoma Glacier orchid?
Answer
This orchid is now classified as Aliceara Tahoma Glacier and Beallara Tahoma Glacier is considered a synonym. It is one of the popular Oncidium alliance Intergeneric hybrid orchids. You can find more complete information on caring for this group of orchids in our guide to Oncidium Intergeneric Hybrid Orchid Culture. The name Aliceara is a condensed name given to the artificial genus that combines the contributing genera Brassia, Miltonia and Oncidium.
Grow plants in intermediate to warm temperatures in bright but filtered light, with high humidity (40 - 60%). When watering, remember that these orchids have pseudobulbs that act as water storage systems. Oncidiums like to approach dryness before they receive more water, but do not allow to dry out completely. Plant will flower when the new bulbs have formed. After flowering, give plants a slight dry out between waterings for 2 - 4 weeks, and increase watering once the new growth starts. Water approximately once a week. Pot with fine fir bark approximately every two years.
