How do I care for my new Yucca houseplant?

Answer

During active growth period (spring, summer, and fall), water plentifully as often as necessary to keep the potting mixture thoroughly moist, but never allow containers to stand in water. During the winter rest period water sparingly, giving only enough to keep the mixture from drying out completely. Yuccas need bright light, with at least three hours a day of direct sunlight (southern exposure) throughout the year. Yuccas are best kept cool during short-day winter months (not below 50 degrees). They tolerate extremely dry air.
