Can I grow a kentucky coffee tree (Gymnocladus dioicus) in my NYS yard?

Answer

The Kentucky Coffee Bean tree (Gymnocladus dioica or Gymnocladus canadensis) is very easy to grow in USDA Zones 3 - 8. It prefers rich, moist soils but is quite tolerant of dry condtions and poor soil. It does best in full sun. Female trees produce an abundance of seed pods and these can cause a litter problem.
