What do you think is the best amount of sunlight a plant should get in a day?

Answer

Plants vary widely in the amount of sunlight they require, depending on the conditions in which they evolved. Plants that evolved in deeply shaded areas like forest understories thrive in very low light conditions, while those that evolved in deserts require bright direct light throughout daylight hours to do well; and there are plants that will survive and thrive in all of the types of conditions between these two extremes. Is there a specific plant or particular situation you want to know about? If so, let us know and we will try to help with more detailed info.
