When do cherry blossoms bloom?

Answer

It is hard to predict with complete accuracy when the cherry blossoms will bloom. The period of bloom depends on the hours of daylight being experienced; that number is fairly fixed but can be affected by long periods of cloudy days. The time of bloom is also related to temperature, both daytime and nighttime, which is very unpredictable in advance.

That said, we can give you a range of time that encompasses most of the bloom times experienced in the recent years. Cherry blossoms are usually blooming in April and/ or May with the peak bloom typically occurring in the month of April. You can follow the progress of the blooms by using our Cherry Blossom Tracker.
