Your tropical cactus takes a rest immediately after the flowering period. During this period, stop feeding the cactus until it is time to begin regular watering and temperature conditions again (covered in Encouraging Your Holiday or Easter Cactus to Flower, part of our Guide to Tropical Cacti). For the rest of the year, fertilize your tropical cactus every month with a tomato fertilizer which will be high in potassium and phosphorous.
